Solana Just Got 66% Faster ⚡
Solana $SOL ( ▲ 0.5% ) is one of the top-performing major cryptocurrencies in early August. It has jumped about 5% since a recent technical upgrade in late July.
Recent Developments: There are several reasons why Solana has performed better than most cryptos recently. Solana-linked ETFs (exchange-traded funds) recorded weekly inflows, continuing a five-week inflow streak through early August. A recent governance proposal to substantially increase SOL burns has been up for debate in the Solana community.
Powering the Story: On July 30, the Solana Foundation activated SIMD-0286, a core network upgrade proposal. This raised Solana’s maximum block compute limit from 60 million to 100 million units, a 66% increase, which cuts congestion risk and improves the chain’s capacity for more complex applications.
Early Bird’s Nest Egg Gains: SIMD-0286 improves capacity, but it does not resolve the core question for Solana investors: whether growing network usage consistently turns into value accruing to the SOL token.
Final Thoughts: Despite the recent price jump, Solana is still down about 38% this year.
