United's Secret Merger Pitch 🤝
Talks of a potential merger caused American Airlines Group $AAL ( ▲ 8.28% ) and United Airlines Holdings $UAL ( ▲ 2.82% ) to jump 5.16% and 1.37%, respectively, in after-hours trading on Monday.
Details: Bloomberg reported on Monday that United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby has floated a possible merger combination with American Airlines. Neither company has commented on the report.
Background: Both stocks are down big this year. United is down 15% while American is down 27%. This year has turned into a rough one for the airlines due to fears about jet fuel shortages.
Reality Check: A merger could be impossible due to likely regulatory scrutiny.
Early Bird’s Nest Egg Gains: For investors, a United–American merger would likely be a mixed event: bullish for American on takeover value, cautiously bullish for United if synergies are real, and risky overall because antitrust and integration hurdles are substantial.
The market already seems to be pricing in some of that optionality.
Final Thoughts: Both United and American control more than a third of the U.S. airline market.

Ethereum’s Strong ETF Inflows
Monday was a great day for cryptocurrency prices, especially for Ethereum $ETH ( ▲ 8.77% ), which experienced an 8% price boost.
Details: Ethereum is now up 13% in April after starting the year with a 31% decline.
Powering the Story: Ethereum is up mainly because the market is pricing in a mix of strong ETF (exchange-traded funds) inflows and improving risk sentiment. Recent reports show spot Ethereum ETFs pulled in about $120 million in a single session.
Final Thoughts: There are still reasons to be concerned about Ethereum right now, but investors are encouraged by the rebound in the price.
Bloom Energy Expands Oracle Deal
Bloom Energy $BE ( ▲ 19.4% ) surged 15.41% in after-hours trading on Monday after the company announced an expanded partnership with Oracle $ORCL ( ▲ 5.51% ) to support its buildout of AI and cloud computing infrastructure.
Details: Oracle will procure up to 2.8 gigawatts of Bloom’s fuel cell systems, which will support Oracle’s projects in the United States.
Final Thoughts: Oracle jumped 2% in after-hours trading on Monday. Bloom’s stock was already up 79% this year.
