Robinhood’s Crypto Winter
A 38% decline in cryptocurrency revenue torpedoed the financial results for Robinhood Markets $HOOD ( ▼ 11.65% ) on Tuesday, sending shares down 7.66% in after-hours trading.
Financials: Robinhood reported earnings of $0.66 per share, which were better than expected. But revenue reached just $1.28 billion, which was lower than expected.
Early Bird’s Nest Egg Gains: Robinhood saw its cryptocurrency revenue decline mainly because crypto trading activity on its platform dropped sharply as digital asset prices fell and volatility faded, which reduced users’ buying and selling.
Final Thoughts: Robinhood’s results also caused Coinbase’s $COIN ( ▼ 6.74% ) stock to dip down 1.27% in after-hours trading.
