Nvidia Beats. Stock Falls. πŸ“‰

Nvidia $NVDA ( β–² 1.3% ) posted strong across-the-board financial results and a new stock buyback on Wednesday, and yet the stock fell 1.26% in after-hours trading.

Financials: Nvidia reported earnings of $1.87 per share in the past quarter and revenue of $81.6 billion. Both were better than expected.

Details: Revenue surged 85%, including a 92% increase in data center revenue, to hit a company record. Nvidia also added a new $80 billion stock buyback and announced it expects revenue of around $91 billion in the current quarter.

Early Bird’s Nest Egg Gains: High expectations and massive market valuations mean that an incredible beat couldn’t drive shares higher. Traders are taking profits and calling it a sell-the-news move. Questions are looming about whether Nvidia can keep growing at the same pace after a huge run-up in the stock.

Final Thoughts: Nvidia also announced its transition to a new revenue reporting structure on Wednesday, which may have confused some investors.
