Is Nike's Comeback Stalling? 🤔

Despite posting strong financial results on Tuesday, a weak outlook sent Nike $NKE ( ▲ 3.08% ) down 9.07% in after-hours trading.

Financials: Nike reported earnings of 35 cents per share in the past quarter and revenue of $11.3 billion. Both were better than expected.

Details: Once again, sales in China declined. And tariffs caused Nike’s gross margin to decrease.

Powering the Story: Nike said on Tuesday it expects revenue to decline in the current quarter, raising some doubts about the company’s so-called comeback.

Early Bird’s Nest Egg Gains: Nike’s comeback is not broken, but it is clearly stalling in the sense that the market expected faster, broader improvement by now. The business is stabilizing in parts of the U.S. and wholesale channel, but China and brand/product momentum are still holding the overall story back.

Final Thoughts: Nike was already down 16% to start the year.

Financials: RH reported earnings of $1.53 per share in the past quarter and revenue of $842.6 million. Both were lower than expected.

Powering the Story: The results were hit by higher-than-expected backorder and special order balances due to tariff-related resourcing and weather events.

Outlook: RH expects revenue growth of 4% to 8% in the current quarter. Investors were hoping for a stronger outlook.

Final Thoughts: Tariffs have been an issue all year. The stock is down 40% in the last 12 months.
