Nike's Continued China Plunge

Despite posting good financial earnings results on Thursday, shares of Nike $NKE ( ▼ 0.09% ) declined by 10.76% in after-hours trading.

Financials: Nike reported earnings of 53 cents per share in the past quarter and revenue of $12.4 billion. Both were better than expected.

Details: Revenue grew 1% (analysts had projected a decline) due to a 7% uptick in North America and an 8% jump in the wholesale business.

Powering the Story: However, Nike’s China business struggled in the past quarter, posting a 13% revenue decline.

Early Bird’s Nest Egg Gains: Nike’s China business is still struggling because it faces a mix of weak consumer demand, heavy local competition, brand/pricing missteps, and margin pressure from tariffs and discounting that make a clean reset hard.

Final Thoughts: It’s more of the same for Nike investors. The stock was previously down 10% this year.

Financials: FedEx reported earnings of $4.82 per share in the past quarter and revenue of $23.5 billion. Both were better than expected.

Details: Operating results for the company’s Federal Express segment improved due to higher package yields, cost savings, and increased U.S. domestic package volume.

KB Home’s Delivery Decrease

Good financial earnings results for the homebuilding company KB Home $KBH ( ▼ 0.3% ) couldn’t save the stock from a 2.79% decline in after-hours trading on Thursday.

Final Thoughts: The number of homes delivered in the period fell 9%, which worried investors. KB Home’s stock is down this year.
