Netflix Pauses Share Buybacks

Netflix $NFLX ( ▲ 2.96% ) reported financial results in after-hours trading on Tuesday, and the stock fell 4.84% as the streaming giant explained how it would pay for its Warner Bros Discovery $WBD ( ▲ 0.07% ) deal.

Financials: Netflix reported earnings of 56 cents per share in the past quarter and revenue of $12.05 billion. Both were better than expected.

Details: Revenue increased 18% year over year, and the company crossed the 325 million paid memberships milestone during the quarter.

Powering Story: To fund its all-cash acquisition of Warner Bros., Netflix announced Tuesday that it will pause its share buyback program to save cash for the deal.

Early Bird’s Nest Egg Gains: Netflix’s pause of stock buybacks is a near‑term negative for sentiment and per‑share support, but by itself, it is not an obvious red flag about the core business. The bigger question is the risk/reward of the Warner Bros. deal and heavier spending.

Final Thoughts: It’s more bad news for Netflix, with the stock previously down 6% in the last 30 days.
