Micron's "AI Era" Rejected
Good financial results and bold talk about artificial intelligence couldn’t stop Micron Technology $MU ( ▲ 0.01% ) from falling 4.43% in after-hours trading on Wednesday.
Financials: Micron reported earnings of $12.20 per share in the past quarter and revenue of $23.86 billion. Both were better than expected.
Outlook: The company expects revenue to grow to about $33.5 billion in the current quarter, along with earnings of $19.15 per share.
Also: Micron boosted its dividend by 30% on Wednesday.
Quote: “Micron set new records across revenue, gross margin, EPS, and free cash flow in fiscal Q2, driven by a strong demand environment, tight industry supply, and our strong execution, and we expect significant records again in fiscal Q3. In the AI era, memory has become a strategic asset for our customers, and we are investing in our global manufacturing footprint to support their growing demand.” - CEO Sanjay Mehrotra.
Early Bird’s Nest Egg Gains: Micron is selling off on a “great print, tougher setup” dynamic: the company beat earnings and talked up the AI era, but valuation wasn’t strong enough to justify how far the stock had already run, so investors took profits.
Final Thoughts: Micron already started 2026 with a 46% gain.
