Hasbro Layoffs (Thanks, Tariffs)

As Hasbro $HAS ( ▼ 3.25% ) expects to incur higher costs due to the recent tariffs, it appears the toymaker will also make a workforce change.

Details: The Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday that Hasbro is cutting 3% of its workforce, which amounts to about 150 employees. The company did not respond to the report.

Background: In April, Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks said during an earnings call that tariffs could lead to higher consumer prices and job losses.

Early Bird’s Nest Egg Gains: Hasbro manufactures the vast majority of its toys in China and Vietnam, making it highly exposed to recent U.S. tariffs.

  • Hasbro’s consumer products (toys) segment already operates on slim margins and has been experiencing revenue decline.

  • The unpredictability of tariff policies has forced Hasbro to suspend its full-year guidance for 2025.

Final Thoughts: Despite the tariffs, Hasbro’s stock is up 19.62% this year.
