Ethereum Catches up to Bitcoin
Ethereum’s $ETH.X ( ▲ 0.1% ) breakout second half of 2025 continued this past week, as the price of the popular cryptocurrency jumped about 20% in the last seven days.
Price Details: The price of Ethereum has increased by approximately 70% since July 1. It is also up 120% since the Pectra hard fork upgrade in May.
Data: U.S.-based spot Ethereum ETFs (exchange-traded funds) reported net inflows of $326 million in the past few days, slightly outpacing Bitcoin’s $BTC.X ( ▲ 2.2% ) $253.2 million in the same period, according to a report from AInvest.
Powering the Story: Bitcoin, which had a strong second quarter in 2025, is up about 26% this year. Ethereum, which had a bad start to the year, caught up this summer and is also up about 26% in 2025.
Early Bird’s Nest Egg Gains: Ethereum’s rapid catch-up this summer was driven by record inflows from ETFs, fundamental upgrades, rotating capital from Bitcoin as BTC stabilized, robust institutional demand, and a resoundingly bullish shift in sentiment.
A confluence of technical innovation, regulatory clarity, and market appetite turned Ethereum from a laggard into the season’s breakout leader, narrowing its gap to Bitcoin at a pace not seen in many years.
Final Thoughts: Can Ethereum keep up this momentum against Bitcoin?
