Why Did a Software VC Managing Partner Invest in Real Estate?

Tim McLoughlin, Managing Partner at Cofounders Capital, usually backs software, but he’s personally invested in Blue Co twice. Why? "Jason went above and beyond for his shareholders... I didn't just invest in the idea; I invested in the person I’ve trusted for a decade."

Check out the town hall recording for more from Tim and why he invested: wefunder.com/blueco

Disclaimer: Cofounders Capital did not invest. Tim invested personally.

Data is Dead 🚨 You Lose

It could suddenly become more difficult to be a stock investor while keeping track of the latest financial updates from public companies.

Details: The Wall Street Journal reported on Monday that the SEC is preparing a proposal that would end the requirement for companies to report earnings quarterly. In a proposal expected to be released as early as next month, companies would have the option to report results twice a year rather than four times.

Early Bird’s Nest Egg Gains: The potential shift away from mandatory quarterly SEC filings changes how often investors get standardized, audited information and how management is incentivized to run the business.

  • Proponents say the changes reduce compliance costs and allow companies to focus more on long-term allocation rather than managing short-term quarterly goals.

  • Critics say there’s less timely and transparent information for investors, there is a higher risk of selective disclosures, weaker oversight, wider dispersion in estimates, more uncertainty, less data for investors, and it could erode trust in the public markets.

Final Thoughts: This change could be a disadvantage for average investors, who rely more on public filings than on private channels.
