Why Cisco Fell on Good News ๐
Even good financial earnings results and record demand couldnโt stop Cisco Systems $CSCO ( โฒ 2.87% ) from falling 4.07% in after-hours trading on Wednesday.
Financials: Cisco reported earnings of $1.22 per share in the past quarter and revenue of $17.3 billion. Both were better than expected.
Details: The company also said on Wednesday it is experiencing โbroad-based, record-high demand for Cisco technology with a networking supercycle underway.โ
Early Birdโs Nest Egg Gains: Cisco benefited from a sharp AI-driven run, so a โbeat and raiseโ was not necessarily enough to help the stock on Wednesday. The market wanted an upside surprise strong enough to validate still-higher growth and margin assumptions.
Final Thoughts: The stock was up 62% this year as investors gravitated towards AI-related stocks. At some point, Cisco was going to give up some gains.
