AE's Namesake Problem πŸ“‰

American Eagle Outfitters $AEO ( β–Ό 1.92% ) plunged 10.60% in after-hours trading on Wednesday, even though the clothing and accessories retailer posted good financial results.

Financials: American Eagle Outfitters reported earnings of 79 cents per share in the past quarter and revenue of $1.4 billion. Both were better than expected.

Details: Revenue jumped 8%. Two brands, Aerie and OFFLINE, increased revenue by 25%, including 19% comparable sales growth.

Also: Earnings were boosted by a $196 million tariff refund.

Powering the Story: The core American Eagle brand struggled during the period. American Eagle comparable sales fell 1%. Merchandise margins suffered.

Early Bird’s Nest Egg Gains: American Eagle’s namesake brand is struggling mainly because its core women’s denim and seasonal assortments haven’t resonated as well with shoppers, while Aerie (including OFFLINE) is benefiting from stronger product momentum, broader category appeal, and a clearer brand story.

  • Sales for the namesake brand will probably remain flat until the women’s product issues are resolved.

Final Thoughts: The stock was already down 35.93% this year.

Blu Dot surpasses 2,000% ROAS with self-serve CTV ads

Home furniture brand Blu Dot blew up on CTV with help from Roku Ads Manager. Here’s how:

After a test campaign reached 211,000 households and achieved 1,010% ROAS, the brand went all in to promote its annual sales event. It removed age and income constraints to expand reach and shifted budget to custom audiences and retargeting, where intent was strongest.

The results speak for themselves. As Blu Dot increased their investment by 10x, ROAS jumped to 2,308% and more page-view conversions surpassed 50,000.

β€œFor CTV campaigns, Roku has been a top performer,” said Claire Folkestad, Paid Media Strategist, Blu Dot. β€œComping to our other platforms, we have seen really strong ROAS… and highly efficient CPMs, lower than any other CTV partner we've worked with.”

Using Roku Ads Manager, the campaign moved from a pilot to a permanent performance engine for the brand.
