Alphabet's AI CapEx Explosion

Google parent Alphabet $GOOGL ( ▼ 7.1% ) ticked down 0.39% in after-hours trading on Wednesday after reporting financial results and revealing increased CapEx spending, now targeting the $175 billion to $185 billion range.

Financials: Alphabet reported earnings of $2.82 per share in the past quarter and revenue of $113.8 billion. Both were better than expected.

Early Bird’s Nest Egg Gains: Investors disliked Alphabetʼs new CapEx plan because it was massively above expectations. It also raised fears that AI infrastructure spending will compress margins and free cash flow for years before clear returns show up

Final Thoughts: It’s a setback for Alphabet after the stock started 2026 with a 5.68% gain.
