United Survives Boeing Crisis
Airplane puns aside, United Airlines (Nasdaq: UAL) soared 5.18% in after-hours trading on Tuesday after reporting better-than-expected financial results.
Financials: United Airlines reported a loss of 15 cents per share in the past quarter and revenue of $12.5 billion; both were better than expected.
Details: Total revenue per available seat mile grew in the past quarter, with the company saying that the “demand environment remained strong.”
Powering the Story: A $200 million loss from the Boeing (NYSE: BA) 737 MAX 9 grounding prevented United Airlines from being profitable, but the company did well. It also made several changes to its aircraft delivery plan so that the recent Boeing crisis remains less challenging.
Final Thoughts: United Airlines is up 1.92% in 2024. It’s a good sign that the company overcame Boeing’s safety and delivery mishaps.
