Tim Cook's Apple Era Is Over 🍎

A seismic shift occurred in Silicon Valley on Monday with Apple $AAPL ( β–² 1.04% ) announcing that Tim Cook will step down as CEO. Shares ticked down 0.55% in after-hours trading.

Details: Cook, who replaced Steve Jobs as CEO in 2011, will become executive chairman of Apple’s board of directors after transitioning from the CEO role in the summer. John Ternus, senior vice president of hardware engineering, will become CEO on September 1.

Early Bird’s Nest Egg Gains: Investors seem uneasy because this looks less like a clean handoff and more like a sign that Apple is changing CEOs while still trying to prove it can win the AI race. A successor being lined up usually lowers uncertainty, but here the change also makes the next chapter feel more urgent.

Final Thoughts: Apple is up over 1,900% since Cook became CEO.
