FedEx Omits Financial Forecast 🚩

Despite posting financial earnings results that were better than expected on Tuesday, shares of FedEx $FDX ( â–¼ 0.7% ) dropped 5.96% in after-hours trading.

Financials: FedEx reported earnings of $6.07 per share and revenue of $22.2 billion in the past quarter. Both were better than expected.

Details: On one hand, there’s a lot to like about these results. Operating income and the margin improved in the past quarter due to higher volume. The company also anticipates $1 billion in transformation program cost savings in the new fiscal year.

Powering the Story: On the other hand, FedEx declined to give investors a full-year forecast for earnings and revenue. And its earnings forecast for the current quarter was lower than expected.

Early Bird’s Nest Egg Gains: FedEx faces several significant uncertainties and challenges impacting its business environment.

  • Unpredictability in the U.S. industrial economy, a major driver of FedEx’s business-to-business shipments, is limiting demand for its services and making it difficult to predict future performance with confidence.

  • The expiration of FedEx’s contract with the United States Postal Service, its largest client, has exacerbated these problems.

Final Thoughts: FedEx’s decline in 2025 is bad for its investors and could be a harbinger of bad things to come for the economy.
