CSX's "Operational Challenges"
Rail transportation company CSX $CSX ( ▼ 0.77% ) ticked down 0.037% in after-hours trading on Wednesday after posting disappointing financial earnings results.
Financials: CSX reported earnings of 34 cents per share and revenue of $3.42 billion in the last quarter; both were lower than expected.
Powering the Story: CSX said it “faced operational challenges to start the year.” Total volume dropped 1%. There was also a decrease in coal revenue.

Alcoa's $20 Million Tariff Pain
Aluminum producer Alcoa $AA ( ▼ 2.62% ) fell 1.48% in after-hours trading on Wednesday after reporting mixed financial earnings results.
Financials: Alcoa reported earnings of $2.15 per share in the past quarter, which were better than expected. But revenue was just $3.3 billion, which was lower than expected.
Powering the Story: Investors were concerned when the company said on Wednesday it incurred about $20 million in tariff costs on the imports of aluminum from Canada. Ouch!
Final Thoughts: This isn’t the last time we’ll hear about tariffs taking a financial toll on companies.
Solana Jumps Amid Canada ETF Launch
The price of the cryptocurrency Solana $SOL.X ( ▲ 5.02% ) jumped about 3% on Wednesday as Purpose Investments launched the world’s first spot Solana ETF in Canada, which provides investors with direct physical exposure to Solana.
Final Thoughts: As bad as the crypto markets have been lately, Solana is up 2% in the last 30 days.
