The electric vehicle market is in trouble. Shares of Tesla (Nasdaq: TSLA) have taken a nosedive, down 40% this year. Elon Musk should consider sending his rockets to Mars just to escape the bad vibes on Wall Street. 

According to Kelley Blue Book, the EV share of new vehicle sales in the first quarter was 7.3%, a decrease from the previous quarter.

With EV stocks in the financial ICU, it’s time to ponder if we should dust off our old gas-guzzling friends – the traditional automakers. Cue the entrance music for Ford (NYSE: F) – the reliable, classic car giant that’s managed to eke out a 2.79% gain in the last 12 months. 

Move over, Tesla; we’ve got an underdog in Ford revving its engines.
