F5's Security Breach Impact

Despite posting better-than-expected financial earnings results on Monday, the application delivery and security services company F5 Networks $FFIV ( ▼ 2.66% ) fell 7.88% in after-hours trading.

Financials: F5 Networks reported earnings of $4.39 per share in the past quarter and revenue of $810 million. Both were better than expected.

Powering the Story: The company expects revenue for the new year to be lower than anticipated due to a significant security breach that was publicly disclosed in October.

Early Bird’s Nest Egg Gains: Investors in F5 should be moderately to highly concerned about the company lowering its financial outlook in direct response to the security breach, as it signals both short-term sales disruptions and ongoing reputational risk.

Final Thoughts: F5’s stock was already down 10% in the past 30 days because of that security incident.
