Block: Bad Results, Bright Future?

Shares of Block $XYZ ( ▼ 4.5% ) should have dropped in after-hours trading on Thursday after the fintech company posted weaker financial results, but instead the stock jumped  5.50%.

Financials: Block reported earnings of 62 cents per share and revenue of $6.05 billion in the past quarter. Both were lower than expected. 

Powering the Story: While the past quarter was bad, the future looks brighter. Block raised its full-year 2025 revenue outlook to $10.17 billion, representing a 14.4% gain.

The Trade Desk's Weak Outlook

The Trade Desk $TTD ( ▼ 38.61% ) plunged 28.81% (ouch!) in after-hours trading on Thursday after the programmatic marketing tech company posted mixed financial earnings results.

Financials: The Trade Desk reported earnings of 41 cents per share in the past quarter, which were in-line. It also reported revenue of $694 million, which was better than expected.

Powering the Story: The company said Thursday that it expects revenue of $717 million in the current quarter, signaling that management sees continued macroeconomic and industry pressures weighing on digital ad spending.

Final Thoughts: It’s been a bad year for The Trade Desk. Before these results, the stock was down 24% in 2025.

Sweetgreen Posts Weak Financial Results

Fast casual restaurant chain Sweetgreen $SG ( ▼ 23.07% ) posted disappointing financial results on Thursday, causing the stock to plunge 22.59% in after-hours trading.

Financials: Sweetgreen reported a loss of 20 cents per share and revenue of $185.6 million in the past quarter. Both were weaker than expected.

Final Thoughts: The stock was already down 60% this year.
