Social Sentiment Stock Picking From an Expert

Tracking the social sentiment of retail investors can be a great way to pick stocks, says Stuart Mooney, the co-founder for investment idea platform Utradea, on a new episode of the Early Bird podcast.

Background: Social sentiment became an important data point due partly to new retail investors coming into the market, according to Mooney.

Important: It is critical to understand the pulse of retail traders, Mooney says, especially if it concerns your stocks.

Alternative: Mooney says that data about stocks traded by politicians and flight data about company jets are two examples of alternative data to monitor.

Final Thoughts: What data points does Mooney keep track of on Utradea? Find out by listening to a new episode of the Early Bird podcast.

Is Netflix a Buy in 2022?

After some recent bad earnings, should investors consider buying Netflix (Nasdaq: NFLX)?

Numbers: Netflix shares are down 28% in the past year, and the stock is trading below its 50-day and 200-day moving averages.

Big Bet: Last week, Bill Ackman and Pershing Square purchased 3.1 million shares of Netflix, becoming a top-20 shareholder in the process. This is a good sign for the company.

Insider: Netflix co-CEO Reed Hastings purchased $20 million shares of the company’s stock last week. This was done to boost confidence in the company.

Final Thoughts: Can Netflix regain its tremendous user growth, which has slowed down as of late? The company is raising its subscription prices, which should help with revenue.
