Invest in Energy Companies Through Equity Crowdfunding
In addition to energy companies on the public markets, investors can get exposure to private market energy companies via equity crowdfunding platforms.
Here's a list of energy startups that raised money on three major platforms.
Republic: Two energy companies recently closed funding on Republic. This includes Manta Biofuel, a renewable replacement biofuel developer, which raised $1.8 million in a campaign that ended in July. Emrod, which offers long-range wireless power transfer, raised $1 million in a campaign that ended last week.
SeedInvest: On SeedInvest, low-cost micro wind turbine developer Halo Energy previously bagged $786,000. Edisun Microgrids, another green energy company, got $1.9 million from investors.
StartEngine: There are two active campaigns in the energy sector on StartEngine. Pacific Integrated Energy, a low-cost solar provider, and Blue Sky Energy, which focuses on environmentally-friendly battery storage, are both running campaigns right now to raise money.
Final Thoughts: Investing in startups can be very rewarding, but also carries risks.
