Frontier Stock Market Investing

This might be a good time to invest in stocks located in a developing country known as a frontier market, explains Ladislas Maurice (who goes by "The Wandering Investor") in a new episode of the Early Bird podcast.

Pros: Stocks in frontier markets tend to have low price-to-earnings ratios (meaning they are value stocks), are easy to understand, and can really boom, according to Maurice.

Cons: Maurice says that there are risks with these stocks that involve the lack of liquidity and the lack of available information for foreign investors.

Opportunity: One of Maurice’s favorite frontier markets to buy stocks in is Uzbekistan because the country welcomes foreign investors, has a young population, has a lot of gold, is exporting many products, and has undergone new reforms.

Final Thoughts: What are Maurice’s other favorite frontier markets this year? And what advice does he offer to get started with frontier stock market investing? Find out by listening to a new episode of the Early Bird podcast.

Public Storage Wants to Buy Rival

I decided to use my storage unit as a photo studio because I pay way too much into it each month and think that I should get more out of it. This was one of 4 projects that I did this past week. The rest included a lot of stop motion and reverse vids. Gotta love creative inspiration.

Public Storage (NYSE: PSA) placed a bid to acquire Life Storage (NYSE: LSI), the self-storage company disclosed on Sunday.

Details: The deal, which Public Storage said it originally proposed on January 12, would equate to about $11 billion. Each shareholder of Life Storage would receive 0.4192 shares of Public Storage common stock.

Why: Public Storage believes that shareholders of both companies would benefit from a combination because it could result in enhanced ancillary operations, cost savings, and accelerated growth and profitability.

Stock Price: The price tag represents a 19% premium to Life Storage’s stock price on February 3, which was $110.58 per share. Life Storage is down 18% in the last 12 months. Public Storage is down nearly 15% in that time.

What’s Next: Although Public Storage’s board supports the deal, Life Storage’s board said it is still reviewing the proposal.

Final Thoughts: A consolidation of this nature would impact the self-storage market. Both companies report financial earnings on February 22.
